Leo Alvin Chong, Champion of District Leo Idol 2008, is now one step closer to his dreams!!! After 30 hours waiting in line for the auditions of Astro Talent Quest this year... he finally made it to the Top 20 for this year's famed competition!!!!!! "Enduring the gruesome comments and 'advices' given by the judges was actually no big deal for me as I have had plenty of that during the Leo idol competition last year!" Alvin joked! He added that the Leo Idol Competition gave him the basic foundations of joining this popular reality TV based competition! "I would like to thank all those @ the Leo Forum last year who supported me.. as well as trainers, organizers and everyone! Reaching this step is just the beginning. I promise to work harder now and hope that I will be able to make it t the Top 10!!!"

Well, true enough...this is not over yet! He will attend more vocal lessons, photo shoots, grooming classes etc etc... following the footsteps of Nicholas Teo, Eric Lim etc etc....If he's good enough... Alvin will proceed to the Top 10 Semi-finals!!!!!

Leo Alvin, formerly from Leo Club of Chung Ling High School, managed to grab only 2nd placing at the 2008 Penang Regional Finals held @ Gurney Plaza. Well, luck, was really on his side, when he was announced as one of the Wild Card entries for the competition. Given this second chance in life, Alvin trained even harder. In a surprise twist of fate... he bagged the District LEO Idol Champion held in-conjunction with the Fellowship Nite of the Leo Forum last year!

What to expect @ the LEO IDOL 2009 Grand Finals

Hey folks,

Here's some info for the up & coming Leo Idol 2009 Grand Finals @ Sg Wang Shopping Center, KL... 11th April 2009!!!!

So far, we have confirmed Celebrity Lion, Baki Zainal (8TV) who will be returning as the Chief Judge for the Grand Finals & singer Aesar Mustafa from Gangstarz!
Another Celebrity judge is none other than DINA, from Malaysian Idol!!!!! More info soon!!! :)

We are currently confirming artists performances and will update you soon!

The rules are simple & straight forward! 6 Finalists (4 Regional Champs + 2 Wild Cards) will be competing in ROUND 1 with their song of choice. In the 2nd Round, only 2 will be singing the Leo Idol 2009 Theme Song... "We Pledge"

Who will be the NEXT LEO IDOL 2009?????!!!!!!!

Oh ya.. the competition just got better...We have confirmed the following prizes:

Leo Idol Region 1 (Penang) Auditions!

The last stop.... ! This was Penang (Region 1)... Lots of aspiring Leos from the North came as early as 9.30am to register.. all in high hopes that they might be the 2 that will represent Region 1 to the District Leo Idol Finals!!!

Many passed the minimum requirement - Sing laaaah!... and many failed and ought to take up acting instead! :)

MORE CHANGES in leo Idol 2009!!!

Folks, due to unforeseen circumstances... the following has taken place:

i) Leo Idol Grand Finals will be held in Sg Wang Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur on the 11th of April instead!

ii) Leo Idol Wild Card entries (2 of them) will be announced only by Wednesday 18th of March 2009.

We apologize for any inconveniences that took place...!

Again, before everyone starts to blast comments on each other... let's get one thing clarified on the WILD CARD ENTRIES into this year's Leo Idol District Finals ya! :)....

WILD CARD ENTRY & LEO IDOL 2009 NEW INFO!!!!

Regional Champions Leo Jeremy Goh (Anderson Ipoh) & Leo Christopher Saw (Taman Sea)

Under unforeseen circumstances, Region 2 (Kedah/Perlis) will not be holding any auditions and regional finals. Therefore, judges and the organizers have made the final decision to change the rules!!!!

Someone from Region 4 will join Leo Christopher & another from Region 3 will join Leo Jeremy in the up & coming District Grand Finals on the 5th of April!!!


Will it be Leo Michelle Too or Leo Andrew Ng
for the Region 4 Wildcard?

And will it be Leo Tan Ly Leng from Pei Yuan, Kampar
or Leo Sophia Lee from
St. Bernadette's Convent, Batu Gajah who will be going

to the Finals as Wild Card entry from Region 3?!!!

Wait.. there's more!!!!

THERE WILL BE 2 FINALISTS
who will be selected from Region 1 (Penang) Finals
this Saturday, 14th of March!!!!

LEO IDOL 2009 Region3 Finals

The Leo Idol 2009 Competition for District 308B2 continues in Region 3, Perak. After a "hope-grilling, dreams-crushing" audition session held the day before, the regional finals took place with the final 10 from Perak doing the best to grab the Leo Idol Perak title for this year!!!

The event was held in the school hall of SMK St. Michael, Ipoh. Hosted by only one club this time round, the Leo Club of St. Michael's Institution (SMI) certainly organized a good show for all!

Members of the Leo Club of Pei Yuan Kampar came in full force to
support 2 of their members who made it into the Regional Finals

2008 Region 3 Champion, who also won the District 1st Runner-Up last year,
Leo Samuel Beh from the Leo Club of Sam Tet, Ipoh, came back to show his
support by singing 2 songs...!

After the 10 finalists performed, judge, Leo Zenny Lyn from Leo Club of Ipoh Metro NC (O),
performed a song to entertain everyone.

Leo Sophia Lee (St. Bernadette's Convent) & Leo Jeremy Goh (Anderson Ipoh), were the 2 finalists that made it into the Regional Finals.. Each had to perform another song and this time round, judges and public voting were the decision makers of the next person to represent Region 2 to the District Grand Finals!!!!

While the votes were being counted, Celebrity Judge,
Aesar Mustafa (Gangstarz) performed a song...

Then, Celebrity Leo member, Azizi Zakaria, who has just released his solo album just a few days earlier, performed his first single, KAMU SEMUA, which has been receiving airplays on major local radio stations! Check out Azizi's website here:

Here we have it... Leo Jeremy Goh emerged as the Perak Leo Idol 2009..
Leo Sophia Lee obtained 1st Runner Up & Leo Tan Ly Leng (Pei Yuan Kampar) was crowned the 2nd Runner-Up.

Leo Idol Perak (Region 3)

LEO IDOL Region 3 will be taking place this Saturday & Sunday (8-9 March!!!!). Lots of participants have signed up. Here are the rules again ya!!!!

1. Sign up for auditions
2. 10 will be selected...to proceed to the Regional Finals!!!!
3. At the Regional Finals, you are required to perform 1 song in Round 1.
4. When the results are announced, the Top 2 will proceed to the second round. In Round 1, it will be the judges' decisions.
5. At the second round, the two finalists who made it, will be judged both by the judges and the people who attend the event - 50-50%.
