IT'S FINALLLLY OVER!!!!!!

Well, the LEO IDOL Grand Finals saw the best ever performance by all 5 finalists - Gini, Chris, Andrew, Sophia & Jeremy!!!!

All of them went all out during the final countdown of this year's most highlighted event ever ..(note - >14000 hits no kidding!) . Fans, family members and supporters came from as far as Penang to support the finalists!!!! Leo members, classmates and friends made banners, flags and boards to support their favourite Leo Idol!!!

Loads of guest performances too!!! Let's take a step back.. and rewind the entire 2-hour long spectacular showcase of talents & the crowning of the 3rd season LEO IDOL!!!!! Here we go!!!!!!

Andrew took the challenge first by presenting his rendition of "I Pledge" with
his mesmerizing R&B-ish voice and talents...
thereafter Jeremy took the stage where he presented "I Pledge" with
his "Rock-ballad"-ish style...!

Before the announcement of the results,
Aesar Mustafa from Gangstarz,
one of the judges for the Leo Idol Finals (also judge for all Regional Finals)
presented 2 numbers..

Then, it was time for a little charity...Baki called upon the Fundraising Director
Lion Shirley Koh of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)... and also
Teen Ambassador of NKF Azizi Zakaria, and both of them gave everyone
a short briefing on how/why we should take care of our kidneys..
and also a little on the objectives of the NKF...

Leo Wai Te, from the Leo Club of La Salle Klang, headed a 13-club-jointly organized event - Leo Idol Region 4 Finals (Where the talents of Christoper Saw & Andrew Ng were discovered!!!)
From ticket sales, they managed to raise RM 590.00 for the NKF!

Also presenting a cheque to the NKF were 5 presidents from the Leo Clubs of
St. Michael's Institution Ipoh, Anderson Ipoh, Sam Tet Ipoh, Idris Shah Gopeng, St. Bernadette's Convent Batu Gajah.
All 5 LEO Clubs from Region 3 (Perak) managed to sell NKF merchandize
and raised RM 1400.00!!!

Thereafter, Azizi performed his "Kamu Semua" with BBoys from Street Nation.

Thereafter, the DiGi CelebriTeens aCap, Ben & Zenny joined Azizi for another 2 songs!

Dina From Malaysian Idol also guest performed two songs! She performed 2 numbers -

joined her on stage for some fun time dancing along with Dina!!!!

- From the Editor's Desk -

Inevitably, it has been a tiring, but exciting journey for the 5 finalists - Jeremy, Andrew, Gini, Chris & Sophia! However, I'm very sure that they have enjoyed every single minute of it! The sleepless nights, the exhausting training, the 3-4am "I still wanna chat, dont sleep yet wei!!!" moments @ camp..., the stage presence grooming lessons, the image styling classes etc etc!!!!

Jeremy - Congrats on your achievement! You did well. Andrew, Chris, Sophia & Gini.. the most important moments I recall at the Grand Finals last weekend wasn't the presentation of the Champion trophy to Jeremy! It was the moments where you all held each other's hands @ the backstage & on stage where you hugged, cried, smiled and laughed!

I strongly believe your experience is never going to be about the loosing bit.. it'll undeniably be the journey and the friendship that blossomed throughout the times you spent at the studio, hotel, trainings etc etc! Also, I remembered a Champion of a reality TV series who said, "The joy of a competition is never about the winning, it's the trying bit that matters most!"

I also know many artists in the local music industry who excelled in their field of choice even though they didn't win the competition that they took part in!!!! I guess, it's the "trying" spirit.. and "never-ever-let-the-spirit-die" bits that brought them there!

Like I mentioned to you before the announcement of Round 1... DO NOT STOP TRYING.. DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR HOPES & DREAMS, if this line is your chosen one that is...a year from now... 5 years from now.. 10 years from now.. you will find the way and you will achieve greater heights no matter come what may!

To all the supporters
- Those who turned up... thank you for all the support! YOu know who you are, hence I'm not going to blabber on who's who!

- To all those who felt hurt from comments from myself and other judges througout the LEO Idol 2009 competition... pls don't take it to heart. We have just let you felt a little bit of what the industry is like...Seriously.. just a little tiny weeniieee bit! :) If you can't take our opinions - whether truthful or direct; pun intended or not; direct, rude or insulting to any extend... then, this line might not be the line that you should choose. Take up our challenge.. and perhaps, if LEO IDOL 2010 takes place, come proof us wrong! :).. otherwise, consider acting or something else! :P Hahaha!

- Bloggers & 'hate-mailers' (hahaha)... Thanks for your feedback & comments that made this site one of the most highly visited one amongst all other Leo programs that were organized in the last 5 years!!! Chill lah! it's over now... No one can stop you folks from stating out your comments and thoughts about who should win bla bla bla! Everyone is entitled to his/her opinions as this is a free world! Let's respect the judges' decisions and comon' ... it's just a frigging competition! :) Chill laaaa!

We've made plans to professionally produce an MTV and soundtrack of "I Pledge" with all 5 finalists in it (it time permits)... hopefully, that would raise some funds for charity!

Leos.. ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!!!!

Kind'a tired, not too sure if we will re-run the program next year... but, who knows!!! We might just pump in some new elements to make it more spicy? Hahaha. until then.. C y'all @ the Leo Forum in Penang! Drinks on me (if you dont spit or shrugged at Alan Thoo that is! :P)

CONGRATULATIONS LEO ALVIN CHONG!!!!

Leo Alvin Chong, Champion of District Leo Idol 2008, is now one step closer to his dreams!!! After 30 hours waiting in line for the auditions of Astro Talent Quest this year... he finally made it to the Top 20 for this year's famed competition!!!!!! "Enduring the gruesome comments and 'advices' given by the judges was actually no big deal for me as I have had plenty of that during the Leo idol competition last year!" Alvin joked! He added that the Leo Idol Competition gave him the basic foundations of joining this popular reality TV based competition! "I would like to thank all those @ the Leo Forum last year who supported me.. as well as trainers, organizers and everyone! Reaching this step is just the beginning. I promise to work harder now and hope that I will be able to make it t the Top 10!!!"

Well, true enough...this is not over yet! He will attend more vocal lessons, photo shoots, grooming classes etc etc... following the footsteps of Nicholas Teo, Eric Lim etc etc....If he's good enough... Alvin will proceed to the Top 10 Semi-finals!!!!!

Leo Alvin, formerly from Leo Club of Chung Ling High School, managed to grab only 2nd placing at the 2008 Penang Regional Finals held @ Gurney Plaza. Well, luck, was really on his side, when he was announced as one of the Wild Card entries for the competition. Given this second chance in life, Alvin trained even harder. In a surprise twist of fate... he bagged the District LEO Idol Champion held in-conjunction with the Fellowship Nite of the Leo Forum last year!

Hey folks,

Here's some info for the up & coming Leo Idol 2009 Grand Finals @ Sg Wang Shopping Center, KL... 11th April 2009!!!!

So far, we have confirmed Celebrity Lion, Baki Zainal (8TV) who will be returning as the Chief Judge for the Grand Finals & singer Aesar Mustafa from Gangstarz!
Another Celebrity judge is none other than DINA, from Malaysian Idol!!!!! More info soon!!! :)

We are currently confirming artists performances and will update you soon!

The rules are simple & straight forward! 6 Finalists (4 Regional Champs + 2 Wild Cards) will be competing in ROUND 1 with their song of choice. In the 2nd Round, only 2 will be singing the Leo Idol 2009 Theme Song... "We Pledge"

The last stop.... ! This was Penang (Region 1)... Lots of aspiring Leos from the North came as early as 9.30am to register.. all in high hopes that they might be the 2 that will represent Region 1 to the District Leo Idol Finals!!!

Under unforeseen circumstances, Region 2 (Kedah/Perlis) will not be holding any auditions and regional finals. Therefore, judges and the organizers have made the final decision to change the rules!!!!

Someone from Region 4 will join Leo Christopher & another from Region 3 will join Leo Jeremy in the up & coming District Grand Finals on the 5th of April!!!

Will it be Leo Michelle Too or Leo Andrew Ng
for the Region 4 Wildcard?

And will it be Leo Tan Ly Leng from Pei Yuan, Kampar

The Leo Idol 2009 Competition for District 308B2 continues in Region 3, Perak. After a "hope-grilling, dreams-crushing" audition session held the day before, the regional finals took place with the final 10 from Perak doing the best to grab the Leo Idol Perak title for this year!!!

The event was held in the school hall of SMK St. Michael, Ipoh. Hosted by only one club this time round, the Leo Club of St. Michael's Institution (SMI) certainly organized a good show for all!

MC (ala Ryan Seacrest) Leo Joshua ... & BBoys from SMI performing an opening BBoy act!

Members of the Leo Club of Pei Yuan Kampar came in full force to
support 2 of their members who made it into the Regional Finals

2008 Region 3 Champion, who also won the District 1st Runner-Up last year,
Leo Samuel Beh from the Leo Club of Sam Tet, Ipoh, came back to show his
support by singing 2 songs...!

After the 10 finalists performed, judge, Leo Zenny Lyn from Leo Club of Ipoh Metro NC (O),
performed a song to entertain everyone.

Leo Sophia Lee (St. Bernadette's Convent) & Leo Jeremy Goh (Anderson Ipoh), were the 2 finalists that made it into the Regional Finals.. Each had to perform another song and this time round, judges and public voting were the decision makers of the next person to represent Region 2 to the District Grand Finals!!!!

While the votes were being counted, Celebrity Judge,
Aesar Mustafa (Gangstarz) performed a song...

Then, Celebrity Leo member, Azizi Zakaria, who has just released his solo album just a few days earlier, performed his first single, KAMU SEMUA, which has been receiving airplays on major local radio stations! Check out Azizi's website here:

Leo Idol Perak (Region 3)

LEO IDOL Region 3 will be taking place this Saturday & Sunday (8-9 March!!!!). Lots of participants have signed up. Here are the rules again ya!!!!

1. Sign up for auditions
2. 10 will be selected...to proceed to the Regional Finals!!!!
3. At the Regional Finals, you are required to perform 1 song in Round 1.
4. When the results are announced, the Top 2 will proceed to the second round. In Round 1, it will be the judges' decisions.
5. At the second round, the two finalists who made it, will be judged both by the judges and the people who attend the event - 50-50%.

LEO IDOL 2009 Region 4 Finals!!!

Well, after the 40-odd auditions of Leo Idol Region 4 held a day earlier, 10 were selected to proceed to the Regional Finals (Selangor) @ the Summit Auditorium USJ. Lots of family members and Leos + friends attended the event to give support to the Regional Finalists and loads of crowd cheering and "boo judges!!!!" moments too.. ala-ala Malaysian Idol moments?!! hahaha... Leos from all over the region (4) came to support their respective clubs. Guests included Leos from Anderson School Ipoh (Region 3). Lions who attended the event included Lion Shirley (National Kidney Foundation) & RCC Leos Region 4, Lion Chan Kee Oi to name a few.

Let's take a look at the event...

Region 4 finals of Leo Idol 2009 Part #1

Leos were given a taste of what's it like to be in a "reality-ish" singing competition just like those that one sees on TV (i.e. Malaysian Idol, AF, One in a Million, DiGi CelebriTeen etc etc)...Yup.. the highly adrenalin-rushed experience may be pumped up with the comments coming from judges - myself (Ln Alan Thoo), Lion Jolene, Aesar Mustafa (Recording artiste from Gangstarz Season 2) & Leo Zenny Lyn (DiGi CelebriTeen 2007 Central Region Champion)... but at the end of the day, L.E.O stands for Leadership Experience & Opportunity! Hence, the E & O provided throughout the Leo Idol competition does provide Leos with a great journey of hope searching, dreams squashing and proud/embarassing moments that they will cherish (?) for a long time to come aye?

After a powerful showcase of talents on stage for all 10 of the finalists...actually only 9 as one practically made a big joke out of the Leo Idol competition... we came down to 2 finalist.... Leo Christopher Saw (SMK Taman Sea) & Leo Michelle Too (SMK USJ 8).

The two of them have to perform for another song in Round 2 and this time round, it was voting & judges decision that determine who gets to go to the Leo Forum for FREE.. and who gets to represent the Region!

Leo Idol 2009: Let the 'torture' begins!!!!!!

Heya! Well, this is Ln Alan Thoo, yup... unfortunately you've gotten me again to be heading this year's Leo Idol Competition (haw haw haw)!! Well, what's best (?) is I have brought in mah bruder...Baki Zainal (if you don't know him by now, shame on you! He's a Celebrity host for 8TV's Celebrity Chat)!!! Famed for his wit and wry humour, Baki is also an honourary member of the Lions Club of Ipoh Metro N.C.

Alrighty, enough of crappy talk. Here goes!!!

LEO IDOL 2009: REGION 4 AUDITIONS!!!
We started out with the Central Region Auditions, which is for Region 4 Selangor. I didnt judge the auditions, but instead just became the Cameraman. haha.. Ln Baki was the chief judge in this round's Auditions!

Even @ audition rounds, the participants were given the IDOL
treatment of elimination! :)

Baki's final one.. the 10th Regional Finalist! .. He and the rest
had 3 persons in mind... called them to sing on the spot!!!
Whoever breaks the ice... got in!!! haha! that's a new one! :)
